Utah Scorpion History

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tim @ 7:04 pm

The Scorpion journey began back in 2005 after the debut of the Sundance Film Festible award winning documentary “Murderball” in Park City, Utah. Inspired by the movies message, the Utah Scorpion dream of playing part in the most action-packed wheelchair sport in the world was born.

For this to become a reality, Coach Daynes, a past Murderball player in the 90’s, knew it wouldn’t be easy. With no money and resources, Daynes went to work. Against all odds, with the help of sponsors and volunteers, Daynes raised enough money and awareness to build what has now become the staple of murderball in Utah, the Utah Scorpions.

Primarily a grassroots team, the Utah Scorpions consist of young home grown athletes who want none other then a chance at playing against the very best in the world. Filled with the passion of the game and little ego, the Utah Scorpion team’s story continues to get better.

What makes the Utah Scorpions so interesting is how many obstacles they faced in their inspiring journey. Now considered one of the best young teams in the Nation, the Utah Scorpions are evolving as America’s true underdog team and have their site of making the 2010 USQRA Nationals.

Please feel free to explore your Utah Scorpions team by meeting the athletes, witnessing their incredible journeys, and viewing raw footage of the most intense and most outrageous clips of the Utah Scorpions 07-08 season. Once you witness these inspiring athletes you will become a fan of a sport that breaks down stereotypes one hit at a time.
